This beautiful antique Porcelain Figural Ewer is handcrafted by the italian factory Capo de Monte and dates back to around circa 1900's.
The ewer is elaborately and profusely modelled in the Capo de Monte palette and this design features festive characters with putti, nymphs, dolphins and hippocampus which were the fish-tailed horses of the sea and often regarded as symbols of hope and appear to be in celebratory mode.
The neck is of a swirl ridged design and is decorated with acanthus leaves and a figural hippocampus and just under the shoulder of the ewer springs the handle which is part curved with a putto sitting aloft and a figural man with hoof feet makes up the lower part of the handle.
This Ewer embodies all of the fine qualities of Capodimonte porcelain: bright, vivid colors and high relief casting and interesting, playful theme.
All raised over a pedestal of mermaids and squared plinth with canted corners.
Base with factory back stamp.
