A Coalport Rococo Revival two-handled vase, painted with colourful summer flowers in shaped reserves of raised and gilt C-scrolls and rocaille and Gilt Petals. The gros bleu ground with flowering leafy sprigs in ciselé gilding, conforming rim and shaped circular base, scrolling acanthus handles, c. 1830. Attributed to Thomas Baxter.
An amazing size and centre piece vase to be on displayed, Cobalt blue vases done by Coalport are usually the best production of coalport, they are very well known for having excessive quality control when manufacturing Cobalt blue pieces which is why they are so sought after to this current day. Beautiful handpainted in a sweeping floral vignette pieces and intricate stately handles thats reminiscent of the rococo revival period with the jaggered top and heavy gilt. In all my life of dealing in antiques I have never seen a coalport vase like this, was owned by a very prominent collector thus finding a piece of this quality or size again is near to impossible. They are all on display in the Coalport Museum.
