A Royal Dux porcelain figure group of a young couple courting, modelled by Hampel, the couple standing with her head resting on his shoulder.
This is a classic example of Royal Dux production. The male shepherd is modelled caressing the maiden who rests her head on his shoulder. On a naturalistic base with leaves and undergrowth, the rosy-cheeked couple are dressed in rustic garbs with gilt highlights that radiate a youthful elegance.
Applied pink triangle mark, impressed no. 1513. Item number 35

Founded in 1853 near Prague in Dux, initially to produce utilitarian objects, the factory was bought by Eduard Eichler, a recognized artist, which marked the beginning of its prosperity. But it was from 1898, following his installation in Berlin, that works of remarkable quality were produced.
This important factory made vases, figurines, often female subjects, in exuberant decorations of flowers, leaves on shell bases, fountains. The porcelain was left in the form of biscuit, gilded or painted, often in green.
During this Art Nouveau period, the company was successful thanks to a modeler-decorator Alois Hampel.
