A stunning Signed by James Hadley Royal Worcester Figure Circa 19th century of a Shepherdess holding a Staff all finished in blush ivory and gilt. Her Victorian Robe held together at the waist with a ribbon band and her neckline is decorated with beads with symbolizes jewels and accentuates with a rope type decoration that culminates in a tassel. She stands upright and proud on a circular base holding her rod or staff in her left hand while holding the side of her robe with her right hand.
Finely and detailed hand painted leafy designs adorn the edges of her robe.
Impressed factory marks together with puce factory stamp. Signature found on the base.
James Hadley was a Royal Worcester artist and by 1870 became the principal modeller at the Royal Worcester factory. He inscribed his name on the base of his master models.
I believe this shepherdess was one of his master models.
